The general objective of the project is to improve livelihoods of small-holder farmers in project area through developing of alpine goat farms, improving goat’s milk value chain, organization of farmers as well as increasing knowledge, skills of farmers.

This project aims to improve economic and social status of 40 farmer families in project areas through the development and improvement of the performance of Alpine goat’s farms.
The development of small scale alpine goat’s farms will contribute to the reduction of poverty in this region, improving nutrition and income of the families, supplying the local market with high quality of goats products (milk and cheese) and pure breed Alpine goats.

In order to achieve the objectives and results, the project will provide 100 high qualities of young Alpine goats to 20 families; 100 offspring’s will pass on, to 20 other families farmers’ respectively in second and on the third year of project.

The project will support the farmers group with equipment for processing milk at the farm conditions to improve goat’s milk value chain (home pasteurization pots, milk cans, cheese forms etc).

Meanwhile the project participants will improve skills and knowledge on goat’s production through training, technical assistance and expertise provided and coordinated from LRD Center.

Farmers will be supported by the project to organize local alpine goat’s breeder association to help them in solving their problems.

To ensure sustainability of the project, the farmers’ community will be assisted to develop the alpine goat farms according to their resources and will establish goat’s breeder association in area.

The project will be supported from Elevages Sans Frontier and implemented from Livestock and Rural Development Center in collaboration with farmers’ group community.
