Was the first Heifer International project initiated in 1996 under the USAID funded Albania Private Forestry Development Program. The activities of this project were implemented in 11 villages in 6 districts where APFDP program was established.
The first group of farmers was organized according Heifer concepts in Alarupi village (a poor village closed to the mountain area of Pogradeci district). 18 families interested on goat’s management were supported with bucks (male goats) to improve the breed of local goats.
The first Passing on the Gift in Albania was realized in 1997 when 18 families passed on male kids (baby goats) to more 36 families in the same village.
