Shegasi community, located in the hilly area in northern part of Lushnja, has a population of 3000 inhabitants. Hard living condition, high rate of unemployment and hard infrastructure make the life difficult in the area. The objectives of the project are:
– To improve nutrition and income, reduce unemployment in community and support sustainable goat’s farming in area.
– To improve the local breed through distribution of French Alpine goats and bucks.
150 Alpine goats and 10 bucks are actually distributed to 50 farmer’s families. 43 new farmer’s families are supported by passing on the gift philosophy.
– To establish a goat cheese processing plan for Shegasi community to help the community, increasing the value of goat’s milk and family income.

This project is realized through the support of Heifer International, Heifer France and Bothar Ireland.
